The bipartisan “Problem Solvers Caucus” has announced its support for H.R. 633, known as the TAKE IT DOWN Act, aimed at combating revenge pornography created both traditionally and by artificial intelligence. This legislation was unanimously passed by the Senate in February 2025 and is set to be taken up by the House Energy and Commerce Committee next week.
Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, who reintroduced the bill in January, is leading the charge in the House. President Trump has shown approval for the bill in a recent speech to Congress, and First Lady Melania Trump has also been a strong advocate, hosting a roundtable at the Capitol last month to promote the legislation.

She is proud of the caucus’s support for the bill and looks forward to working with her colleagues on this bipartisan priority.
“In an era where personal privacy can be violated with a single click, the TAKE IT DOWN Act provides essential federal protection,” said Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick. This legislation tackles the spread of nonconsensual intimate images and the disturbing rise of AI-generated “deepfakes” by setting a clear legal standard.
Congressman Tom Suozzi commented, “The publication of explicit images, including AI-generated deepfakes, is a frightening and destructive reality of the digital age. I commend the First Lady for bringing attention to this. The caucus will work with her, regardless of political affiliations, to pass the TAKE IT DOWN Act.”
Congressman Chuck Edwards added, “Congress must ensure there are protections, especially for minors, against rapidly evolving technology. The TAKE IT DOWN Act ensures victims of inappropriate and distorted AI publications have strong mechanisms to act.”
Congressman Henry Cuellar expressed his pride as a coauthor of the Act, calling it a fundamental step to protect the dignity and safety of individuals, ensuring rapid removal of harmful content and holding perpetrators accountable.
