Marlon Smith, a former standout at Miami Carol City Senior High School, and his current team, the Columbus State Cougars, were defeated 74-66 by the Lander Bearcats during the NCAA Division II Basketball Tournament on Sunday, March 15.

The matchup tipped off at 5 p.m. at Abney Athletic Center and marked the Cougars’ first contest against the Bearcats in tournament play.
