Mario Díaz-Balart, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 26th District, has been vocal on several key issues through his social media presence. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, Díaz-Balart has had a lengthy political career, including terms in both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate.

On July 7, 2025, Díaz-Balart addressed the situation in Nicaragua under the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo. He stated that “For years, the Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo regime has deprived the Nicaraguan people of their fundamental freedoms, forcing thousands into exile in numerous countries including the United States.” He also expressed commendation for efforts by a previous administration to hold this regime accountable.

Later that day, he celebrated legislative progress with H.R. 1 becoming law. He noted that “H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill, is officially the law of the land and renews vital investments in 67 Opportunity Zones across Miami-Dade – driving jobs, growth, and revitalization in FL-26 communities like Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, and Miami Springs.”

The following day on July 8th, Díaz-Balart reaffirmed his support for Israel by stating “The United States stands solidly with our friend and ally, Israel.”

Mario Díaz-Balart holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
