House Appropriations Committee Vice Chair Mario Díaz-Balart has announced the passage of H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, in the House of Representatives. The act delivers on President Trump’s initiative to implement significant funding cuts.
Díaz-Balart expressed satisfaction with the $9 billion rescissions package, stating it fulfills a promise to reduce waste and ensure government accountability. He emphasized that these efforts aim to align spending with national security priorities.
Additionally, Díaz-Balart introduced his FY 2026 NSRP funding bill earlier this week. This proposal continues previous efforts and supports Trump’s foreign policy by reducing funding by 22 percent compared to FY 2025 levels while enhancing U.S. national security.
“Americans want taxpayer dollars to be spent prudently and on initiatives that align with national security priorities,” Díaz-Balart stated. “This legislation protects existing vital programs while also refocusing programs to designated core functions, such as life-saving work.”
The press release highlighted several controversial programs previously funded by U.S. taxpayers, including contributions to international organizations and projects deemed unrelated to national security interests.
