Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart has announced the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Florida’s 26th Congressional District. Neeley Camejo, a sophomore at Hialeah Gardens Senior High School and resident of Hialeah, Florida, earned the top honor with her artwork titled “Reverence in the Currents: An Esoteric Wonder.” Her piece was chosen from 175 entries submitted by students from 16 schools and will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
Neeley’s art teacher, Haydee Fernandez Salazar, guided her in creating the piece using alcohol markers, watercolors, acrylic paint, and markers. The artwork features a large koi fish swimming gracefully, revealing hidden beauty and respect for nature’s creations.
Honorable mentions were given to three other students whose works will be displayed in various district offices. Angela Troia from J.C. Bermudez Doral Senior High School created “Floreciendo,” which will be shown in Washington, D.C. Lorena Aragon from Youth Co-Op Preparatory Charter School crafted “A Hero’s Embrace,” to be displayed in Miami. Samantha Mirabal from Mater Academy Charter High School painted “Gator in the Glades,” which will be exhibited in Naples.
