Mario Díaz-Balart, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, took to social media on May 17, 2025, to express his appreciation and support for military personnel and law enforcement officers. Having previously served in both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate, Díaz-Balart continues to be an active voice in politics.
On Armed Forces Day, Mario Díaz-Balart honored military personnel by acknowledging their contributions to national freedoms. He stated: “On Armed Forces Day, we honor the brave men and women who serve, as well as those who have served our country. We must never take for granted the very freedoms we enjoy today–freedoms made possible by their service and sacrifice.” The tweet also recognized the sacrifices made by family members of service members.
Later that day, he celebrated National Police Week’s conclusion with remarks about legislative efforts supporting police officers nationwide. In his post, he mentioned: “Another successful National Police Week in the books! I was proud to support a series of bills brought to the House Floor by @HouseGOP–legislation that reinforces our unwavering commitment to police officers across the country.”
Additionally, Díaz-Balart highlighted his achievements in securing federal funding for his district over recent fiscal years. He wrote: “As the proud Representative for FL26 and a staunch supporter of our law enforcement, I have consistently worked to deliver federal funds back to our community and am proud to have secured a total of +$8M in direct federal funding during fiscal years 2023 & 2024.”
Mario Díaz-Balart was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
