House Appropriations Vice Chairman Mario Díaz-Balart has expressed support for the recent passage of H.R. 1, known as President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.” The legislation aims to bolster economic growth and reduce taxes for American families.
“I am proud to have voted with my House Republican colleagues to send President Trump’s America First bill, the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill,’ to his desk to be signed into law,” stated Díaz-Balart. He highlighted that the bill aligns with President Trump’s agenda by aiming to restore American deterrence, secure savings, enhance economic growth, boost domestic energy production, secure borders, and prevent significant tax hikes on American families and small businesses.
The bill is particularly beneficial for taxpayers in Florida’s 26th Congressional District by making permanent the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) from 2017. Without this act, residents would face a potential 24% tax increase by the end of 2025. The legislation also aims to protect manufacturing jobs and small businesses from tax hikes while fostering job creation and innovation.
Furthermore, it seeks investments in Opportunity Zones established under the TCJA. In Miami-Dade County alone, these zones have seen significant investment under this initiative.
In addition to its economic measures, the bill addresses border security by investing in measures against illegal narcotics like fentanyl. It also plans to reverse current energy policies in favor of American energy independence.
Pro-family initiatives are another focus of the bill. It proposes increasing the Child Tax Credit by $500 up to $2,200 and enhancing credits related to paid leave and childcare provisions from previous tax cuts. There are also enhancements proposed for adoption-related tax credits.
Seniors will benefit from a $6,000 deduction which exceeds taxable Social Security income for those receiving average retirement benefits.
For further details on how this legislation intends to aid American families:
– It promises no taxes on tips or overtime.
– Aims at strengthening national security with a $150 billion investment.
– Plans include revitalizing shipbuilding with a $29 billion investment.

Overall, this historic piece of legislation intends not only tax relief but ensures working families retain more income.
