Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart announced on March 20 that the Subcommittee on National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs will hold a field hearing focused on accountability and reform at the United Nations. The hearing is scheduled for Friday, March 20, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
The event aims to examine how directives from the fiscal year 2026 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs bill are being implemented to advance structural reforms and improve oversight within the UN system. The hearing will include bipartisan participation from appropriations members as well as Michael Waltz, Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations.
The full proceeding will be livestreamed on the House Appropriations Committee’s YouTube channel for public viewing.
Díaz-Balart has served in Congress representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003. He previously held positions in both the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 and the Florida Senate from 1992 to 2000, according to his official biography.
He was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. Díaz-Balart graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
