Rep. Frederica Wilson, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 24th district since 2011, has recently expressed her views on two pressing issues via social media. Wilson, who succeeded Kendrick Meek in Congress and previously served in various legislative roles within Florida, shared her thoughts on antisemitism and the closure of Job Corps centers.
On June 2, 2025, Rep. Wilson addressed a hate crime incident targeting Jewish Americans in Boulder, Colorado. She stated: “My heart goes out to the victims of the horrific hate crime in Boulder, Colorado, targeting Jewish Americans.” Emphasizing the need for unity against rising antisemitism, she urged collective efforts to ensure safety for all individuals regardless of their identity: “Antisemitism is on the rise, and we must work together to ensure that every person feels safe, no matter who they are. Hate has no place in our country.”
In another post dated June 3, 2025, Wilson highlighted her long-standing support for Job Corps centers amidst their nationwide closures by the Trump Administration. She wrote: “My name is Frederica PREVENTION Wilson and I have been an ardent supporter of JOB CORPS CENTERS since their founding because Job Corps delivers LIFE CHANGING PREVENTION!” She criticized these closures as detrimental to prevention efforts that have historically benefited young people.
Continuing her advocacy for Job Corps centers on June 3rd as well, she reiterated their significance: “Job Corps centers have saved the lives of young people for generations.” Wilson emphasized that these institutions serve as vital prevention tools necessary for those marginalized or overlooked by society.
Frederica Wilson was born in Miami Gardens in 1942 and graduated from Fisk University with a BA in 1963.
