Rep. Frederica Wilson, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 24th district since 2011, addressed a range of issues in her recent posts on April 13, 2026, from commemorating Holocaust victims to advocating for affordable living and maternal health.
In an April 13 post marking Yom HaShoah, Wilson stated: “On Yom HaShoah, we remember the millions of lives stolen in the Holocaust and honor the strength and resilience of those who survived. I will never be silent in the face of hate. We must stand up, speak out, and make sure this history is never forgotten. Never again means never”.
Later that day, Wilson turned attention to local economic pressures, writing: “South Florida families are already stretched thin, and now rising gas prices are making everyday life even harder. What’s happening overseas should not be hitting our community this hard. We need a real focus on lowering costs and protecting the people who feel it first.”
Addressing public health disparities during Black Maternal Health Week, Wilson posted: “During Black Maternal Health Week, I am speaking truth. Black mothers are still dying at higher rates, and that is unacceptable. Every mother deserves safe, high-quality care before, during, and after pregnancy.”
Wilson has represented Florida’s 24th District since 2011 after serving in both chambers of the Florida Legislature between 1998 and 2010. Born in Miami in 1942 and currently residing in Miami Gardens, she graduated from Fisk University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963.
