U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson, who has represented Florida’s 24th district since 2011, used her social media platform over the Labor Day weekend to highlight issues affecting working Americans and showcase local events.
On September 1, 2025, Wilson posted about Labor Day and criticized legislation she referred to as the “Big, Ugly Law,” stating: “This Labor Day, let’s remember that working people built this country, and our government should work for them, not the ultra rich, like the ‘Big, Ugly Law’ does. Thank you to Secretary Julie Su for spotlighting this in our tele-town hall.”
Later that evening on September 1, Wilson shared her attendance at a college football event with community leaders: “Enjoying the game with the @FAMU_1887 President, Marva Johnson, alongside some Role Models as we cheered for FAMU during the Orange Blossom Classic!”
On September 2, Wilson highlighted congressional efforts by House Democrats through legal action: “House Democrats have been fighting back here in Congress and in the Courts through the Litigation and Response Task Force. Thank you, @RepJoeNeguse, for highlighting how Democrats are fighting back. If you want to learn more about this task force, visit https://t.co/3kMjH5L8sr.”
Frederica Wilson has a long history of public service in Florida politics before joining Congress. She previously served in both chambers of the Florida Legislature from 1998 until her election to Congress in 2011. Born in Miami in 1942 and currently residing in Miami Gardens at age 80, Wilson is also an alumna of Fisk University (BA ’63).
