U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson, who represents Florida’s 24th district in Congress, posted a series of updates on her official X account between August 21 and August 22, 2025. The posts included an announcement about the closure of Alligator Alcatraz, a call for community participation at an upcoming event, and information on how to submit questions.

On August 21, Wilson shared a link for constituents to submit questions: “Submit questions by clicking here: https://t.co/OaJJCIcMm8”.

The following day, she commented on the closure of Alligator Alcatraz, writing: “After so much pressure from me and my colleagues, FINALLY ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ IS CLOSING DOWN. IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME! It was cruel, careless, and destructive from the start and should have never been built. I’m glad it’s closing, and we must never repeat the mistakes made at https://t.co/JvPbQrtsA1 https://t.co/ACn4FGaAXM” (August 22).

Later that same day, Wilson invited past participants of the 5000 Role Models program to join a tailgate event before a Miami Dolphins game: “CALLING ALL ROLE MODELS FROM THE PAST THREE DECADES! The @5000RoleModels is hosting a tailgate right before the @MiamiDolphins game. You won’t want to miss it so make sure to come out and join all the festivities as we support our Dolphins! https://t.co/VHJVpJjOWp” (August 22).

Frederica Wilson has represented Florida’s 24th District in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Kendrick Meek. She previously served in both chambers of the Florida legislature and is known for her involvement in local issues and community programs such as the 5000 Role Models initiative. Born in Miami in 1942, Wilson resides in Miami Gardens and holds a degree from Fisk University.
