Rep. Frederica Wilson, who represents Florida’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to address concerns about federal healthcare tax credits and highlight her ongoing support for local healthcare providers.
On August 16, 2025, Wilson wrote, “Federal healthcare tax credits that millions of Floridians rely on expire this year. Congress let them lapse in the ‘Big, Ugly Law’ to give billionaires tax breaks. Without action, millions will lose coverage. We must renew these tax credits ASAP, and I stand ready to do so.”
Two days later, on August 18, she posted about a visit to a local medical center: “Today, I toured Borinquen Medical Centers in North Miami and met with the CEO, doctors, and stakeholders. They’ve long been a pillar of care in South Florida, and I will always stand with healthcare providers like them and with every American who depends on quality healthcare.”
On August 19, Wilson continued her focus on community health by stating: “Proud to tour Borinquen Family Health Center in North Miami with Mayor Alix Desulme and CEO Paul Valez. I am constantly fighting in DC for increased funding for healthcare in our communities.”
Wilson has served as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 24th District since 2011 after succeeding Kendrick Meek. Her career also includes terms in the Florida Senate from 2002 to 2010 and the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002. Born in Miami in 1942 and currently residing in Miami Gardens, Wilson graduated from Fisk University with a BA in 1963.
