Rep. Frederica Wilson, who represents Florida’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared several updates on her official Twitter account, highlighting appreciation for her office interns, the start of Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, and a birthday message to Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
On August 1, 2025, Wilson posted a message recognizing the contributions of her interns: “Happy National Intern Day! Our office wouldn’t be the same without our hardworking interns. From greeting constituents to helping with daily tasks, they go above and beyond. I’m grateful for all they do and wish them continued success.”
Later that day, she informed constituents about an annual state event: “Today marks the start of Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday! From laptops and backpacks to pencils, crayons, and more, now’s the perfect time to stock up and save. Click below to see the full list of tax-free items:” (August 1, 2025).
On August 4, 2025, Wilson extended birthday wishes to a fellow member of Congress: “Happy Birthday to our Democratic Leader @RepJeffries. I am beyond proud. Hakeem Hakeem Hakeem “
Wilson has served in Congress since 2011 after succeeding Kendrick Meek and previously held positions in both chambers of the Florida legislature from 1998 through 2010. She was born in Miami in 1942 and resides in Miami Gardens. Wilson is also an alumna of Fisk University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1963.
