U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson, who has represented Florida’s 24th district in Congress since 2011, recently used her social media platform to highlight local student opportunities and honor community leaders.

On March 11, 2026, Wilson announced the opening of a student art competition: “Young artists in #FL24, it is your time to shine. The Congressional Art Competition is officially open, and I cannot wait to see the creativity and talent of our students on display. We are now accepting submissions from students across Florida’s 24th District. The 1st place https://t.co/NqKyEFj8kN”.

The following day, March 12, she posted a tribute during Women’s History Month: “During Women’s History Month, we honor Christine King, Chairwoman of the Miami City Commission and District Five Commissioner, and the first Black female Chair of the City ot Miami Commission. Later that same day, Wilson commented on national discourse: “In today’s America, it has become normal to show hate. But this country is better than this. https://t.co/2QS5dWsXzi”.

Frederica Wilson was born in Miami in 1942 and currently resides in Miami Gardens. She previously served in both chambers of the Florida legislature before being elected to Congress after Kendrick Meek’s departure in 2011. Wilson graduated from Fisk University with a BA in 1963.
