U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson, who has represented Florida’s 24th district in Congress since 2011, recently used her social media platform to highlight local student opportunities and honor community leaders.
On March 11, 2026, Wilson announced the opening of a student art competition: “Young artists in #FL24, it is your time to shine. The Congressional Art Competition is officially open, and I cannot wait to see the creativity and talent of our students on display. Frederica Wilson was born in Miami in 1942 and currently resides in Miami Gardens. She previously served in both chambers of the Florida legislature before being elected to Congress after Kendrick Meek’s departure in 2011. Wilson graduated from Fisk University with a BA in 1963.
