Rep. Frederica Wilson, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 24th district, recently shared several updates via social media. Her posts touched on upcoming events and celebrations pertinent to her community engagement and advocacy work.
On June 14, 2025, Rep. Wilson encouraged her followers to “Make sure to pick up a copy tomorrow of the @MiamiHerald! You’re going to want to see it for a special surprise.” The post was accompanied by the hashtag #WeAre5000 and emojis, suggesting an announcement or feature related to her ongoing initiatives.
The following day, June 15, 2025, she marked Father’s Day with two separate messages. In one post, she expressed well-wishes specifically towards Black fathers in her capacity as Chair of the U.S. Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys: “Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers and father figures out there! As Chair of the U.S. Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys, we’re committed to uplifting Black fathers everyday. It’s all about prevention, not detention, and that starts with fatherhood.”
In another message posted later that day, Rep. Wilson extended broader greetings: “Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, father figures, and mentors out there. Thank you for your strength, love, and guidance today and every day. We love you and appreciate you!” This reflects her appreciation for those who provide support within families.
Frederica Wilson has been serving in Congress since 2011 after replacing Kendrick Meek. Her career also includes service in the Florida Senate from 2002 to 2010 and in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002.
