U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson, who represents Florida’s 24th district in Congress, highlighted the achievements of women leaders and advocates in a series of posts on March 19, 2026.

In her first post of the day, Wilson welcomed television personalities to Capitol Hill for their advocacy work: “| was thrilled to welcome the ‘Housewives’ to Capitol Hill as they tackled the complexities of HIV/AIDS. It was heartwarming to see them championing a cause that I have advocated for years, even before becoming an elected official. Later that evening, Wilson used Women’s History Month as an opportunity to honor local leadership: “During Women’s History Month, I will continue to honor extraordinary women throughout South Florida whose leadership uplifts and transforms our region. She concluded her series by congratulating Dr. Makeda Johnson: “Congratulations to Dr. Makeda Johnson on your historic leadership as President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Miami. Frederica Wilson has served in Congress since replacing Kendrick Meek in 2011 and previously held positions in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature from 1998 through 2010. Born in Miami in 1942 and currently residing in Miami Gardens at age 80, Wilson is a graduate of Fisk University.
