Rep. Frederica Wilson, who represents Florida’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of policy issues and commemorative events in a series of posts on August 28 and 29, 2025.
On August 28, Wilson called for legislative action to extend health care tax credits: “Congress must renew the health care tax credits set to expire this year, and I stand ready to support that effort. Thank you to Secretary Kathleen Sebelius for highlighting this issue at our town hall yesterday.”
Later that day, she marked the anniversary of a pivotal moment in American history: “62 years ago, the March on Washington brought hundreds of thousands together to demand civil rights and equality. Today, we honor those who marched and recommit ourselves to carrying their fight forward toward a more just America.”
On August 29, Wilson criticized recent legislative measures affecting social programs and immigration enforcement: “While the ‘Big, Ugly Law’ rips food from hungry children and healthcare from those in need, it funnels more money to ICE to terrorize immigrant communities. Thank you to Sui Chung from @Am4ImmJustice for highlighting this and fighting for immigrant justice nationwide.”
Frederica Wilson has represented Florida’s 24th District since 2011 after succeeding Kendrick Meek. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in both chambers of the Florida legislature between 1998 and 2010. Born in Miami in 1942, Wilson is an alumna of Fisk University (class of 1963) and currently resides in Miami Gardens.
