Frida Stretre Løbersli from the FIU women’s swimming and diving team has been selected to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The announcement was made by the NCAA committee on Wednesday.
Stretre Løbersli will participate in the 100 breaststroke event, having secured the No. 33 ranking with a time of 59.52 seconds.
This selection continues a streak for FIU, marking the 15th consecutive year that an FIU swimmer has qualified for the NCAA Championships. This is currently the longest ongoing streak among mid-major swimming and diving programs.
The championships are scheduled to take place from March 18 to March 21 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
Stretre Løbersli, a sophomore, has had a strong season. She earned three medals at the 2026 American Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, including a silver medal in the 100-breaststroke. She also contributed to setting both an FIU and American Conference record in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:36.24, and won silver in the 400-medley relay.
In total, there will be 322 participants—281 swimmers and 41 divers—at this year’s championships. Swimmers qualify either by winning their conference championship in an event with an established minimum time or by meeting qualifying times for their events. Divers are selected based on performances at the Zone Diving Championships taking place from March 8 to March 11; those selections will be announced on Thursday, March 12.
ESPN+ will provide live digital coverage of preliminary and finals sessions throughout the event, while ESPNU will air tape-delayed coverage of the women’s championships at 9 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, March 25.
