Mario Díaz-Balart, a seasoned politician representing Florida’s 26th District in the U.S. Congress since 2003, has been vocal about various issues on social media. With a career that spans over three decades, including terms in both the Florida House of Representatives and Senate, Díaz-Balart frequently addresses topics ranging from international affairs to local concerns.
On May 5, 2025, Díaz-Balart commented on China’s influence in multilateral financial institutions. The congressman expressed his approval of measures taken by the Trump Administration to address this issue.
Continuing his critique on the same day, Díaz-Balart reiterated his concerns in English: “The Communist Chinese regime has enjoyed an outsized influence at multilateral banks such as the IDB for too long, with the United States investing millions in projects that provide windfalls to companies controlled by Communist China.” He once again applauded actions by the Trump Administration aimed at countering this influence.
Díaz-Balart also addressed local matters pertinent to his constituents in Florida. On May 5, he issued a public service announcement regarding hurricane preparedness: “Attention Florida residents Know your zone, know your home.” He emphasized the importance of being aware of evacuation zones and flood-prone areas during hurricane season and provided a link for more information.
Mario Díaz-Balart was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a BA degree.
