Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, marked Colombia’s Independence Day and discussed national security funding in a series of posts on July 21, 2025.

In a message recognizing Colombia’s national holiday, Díaz-Balart wrote: “Today, as Colombia celebrates its independence, I extend my cordial and respectful greetings to the Colombian people, who continue to uphold their unwavering commitment to freedom, justice, and democracy, values they share with the people of the United States. I hope this noble” (posted July 21).

Later that morning, he announced his appearance on Fox Business by posting: “Join me LIVE today at 7:20 AM ET on @MorningsMaria via @FoxBusiness” (posted July 21).

Díaz-Balart also addressed federal spending priorities for fiscal year 2026 in another post: “With the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs funding bill for FY 2026, we are doing more with less—delivering more for our national security and efforts to confront U.S. adversaries, while spending less on programs that do not advance American priorities.” (posted July 21).

Díaz-Balart has represented Florida’s 26th District in Congress since 2003 after serving in both chambers of the Florida legislature from 1988 through 2000. He was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
