Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, posted a series of messages on his Twitter account on August 20, 2025, highlighting issues ranging from local tax breaks to personal acknowledgments and expressions of solidarity.
In a message expressing support for Cuban artist Maykel Osorbo, Díaz-Balart wrote on August 20: “Estamos contigo, Maykel Osorbo #11J #Patriayvida https://t.co/OM9BXerBks”.
Later the same day, Díaz-Balart cited information from the Tax Foundation regarding tax policy in Miami-Dade County. He stated: “According to @TaxFoundation Miami-Dade residents will see an average tax break of $5,872 thanks to @realDonaldTrump One Big Beautiful Bill. My vote for the OBBB was a vote to give people more money in their pocket. https://t.co/wLQ4oVd5Tp” (August 20).
Díaz-Balart also expressed gratitude toward Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for honoring his brother with a prestigious award. On August 20 he wrote: “Thank you @GovRonDeSantis for awarding my brother the Medal of Freedom. Our family is honored by your noble gesture. Lincoln represented the best of our community and it was an honor to have him in my life not just as a big brother but as a mentor and a pillar of our”.
Mario Díaz-Balart has held his seat in Congress since 2003 after serving in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature between 1988 and 2000. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, Díaz-Balart holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida.
