Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, has recently made a series of statements on social media regarding national security, government spending, and Venezuela’s political situation.

On August 27, 2025, Díaz-Balart announced an upcoming television appearance: “NEW: Tune in tomorrow at 8:10 a.m. ET as I join @cherylcasone LIVE on @MorningsMaria @FoxBusiness.”

The following day, he expressed concerns about congressional budget negotiations and their impact on defense and national security. On August 28, he posted: “Another continuing resolution (CR) would be disastrous for our defense and national security, prolonging Biden’s reckless spending. If we want real spending cuts, Congress must pass the @HouseAppropsGOP bills—which cut waste and do more for our country with less.”

Later that same day, Díaz-Balart addressed the situation in Venezuela by stating: “Venezuela is not controlled by a government; it has been taken over by a narco-terrorist cartel, El Cartel de los Soles. Maduro is the ringleader of this criminal organization, responsible for illegal drug trafficking into the United States and deaths of many Americans.”

Díaz-Balart has served in Congress since 2003 after previous roles in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature. He was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
