Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, used his Twitter account on July 25, 2025, to comment on international affairs and local military developments.
In a tweet posted at 18:42 UTC, Díaz-Balart criticized Colombian President Gustavo Petro for his foreign policy stance, stating: “Another example of Petro aligning himself with malign actors, in this case with Hamas terrorists”.
Later that day at 19:21 UTC, he promoted a live radio appearance scheduled for the same afternoon: “EN VIVO hoy a las 3:30 p. m. con @NinoskaPerezC por @lapoderosa990 AM. Sintonice aquí.”
At 21:17 UTC, Díaz-Balart highlighted a milestone event for U.S. Southern Command personnel and their families in South Florida: “Today, we marked an important milestone for the brave men and women serving at @Southcom and their families with the coin laying in the cornerstone brick, a time-honored military tradition. This is the first military housing of its kind in South Florida since Hurricane Andrew”.
Díaz-Balart has been active in both state and federal government since the late 1980s. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 and in the Florida Senate from 1992 to 2000. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, Díaz-Balart holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
