Mario Díaz-Balart, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, addressed regional security and Cuban political issues in a series of posts on March 7, 2026.

In his first post at 15:12 UTC, Díaz-Balart expressed appreciation for the President of the United States by stating, “Thank you @POTUS for your bold leadership in prioritizing peace, stability, and security in our region!”

Later that day at 18:39 UTC, he called for the release of political prisoners with the message “¡Libertad para todos los presos políticos! #CubaLibre2026”.

In an evening post at 23:44 UTC, Díaz-Balart criticized Mexico’s humanitarian aid to Cuba. He wrote, “The so-called “humanitarian” aid from Mexico meant for the Cuban people is ending up in regime-run stores where it is sold for profit, helping to keep the Cuban people’s oppressors in power. Instead of abetting tyranny in our hemisphere, President Sheinbaum should impose tough”.

Díaz-Balart has been active in both state and federal government since 1988 and previously served in Florida’s House of Representatives and Senate before his election to Congress. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
