Mario Díaz-Balart, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, posted several statements on his social media accounts addressing international relations and domestic policy issues in early August 2025.

On August 7, Díaz-Balart commented on his meeting with Tomás Uribe, son of former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe. Díaz-Balart’s career spans decades in public service; before entering Congress, he served in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, Díaz-Balart holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
