Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003 and a longtime public servant, posted several statements on March 18, 2026, addressing topics ranging from sports to international affairs.
In his first post of the day, Díaz-Balart congratulated Venezuela for its achievement in baseball: “Felicitaciones a Venezuela por una histórica victoria en el Clásico Mundial de Béisbol. Orgulloso de representar a tantos venezolano-estadounidenses en el Distrito 26 de Florida, cuyo amor por la libertad, la resiliencia y la pasión se reflejaron plenamente en este equipo.” (March 18, 2026).
Later that afternoon, he highlighted legislative progress on art restitution for Holocaust victims: “I am pleased that the Holocaust Expropriated Art Recovery Act of 2025 passed the House and will head to President Trump’s desk. This legislation protects the rights of Holocaust victims and their families from the litany of absurd and immoral attempts by museums, art dealers,” (March 18, 2026).
In another statement published that evening regarding foreign policy and national security concerns about Iran, Díaz-Balart wrote: “Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism—responsible for killing thousands of Americans, attacking our allies, and even plotting attacks here in Washington, D.C. Yet now, as the United States takes decisive action against that regime and its leadership, Democrats” (March 18, 2026).
Díaz-Balart was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. He holds a BA from the University of South Florida. Before serving in Congress since 2003 for Florida’s District 26—a district with significant Venezuelan-American representation—he served both in the Florida House of Representatives (1988-1992) and the Florida Senate (1992-2000).
