Mario Díaz-Balart, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, recently expressed concerns over several pressing issues via social media. Born in Fort Lauderdale and residing in Miami, Díaz-Balart has been an active political figure since his tenure in the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 and the Florida Senate from 1992 to 2000.
On June 1, Díaz-Balart demanded proof of life for Félix Navarro and José Daniel Ferrer, who have reportedly been held incommunicado without adequate medical care. He urged for their immediate release along with thousands of other political prisoners, highlighting that Navarro’s daughter Sayli is also affected by this situation.
In another post on June 2, he addressed an incident in Boulder, Colorado, describing it as “another targeted antisemitic terrorist attack”. He emphasized the disturbing rise of antisemitism across communities and its threat to Jewish Americans and those advocating for hostage releases.
Later that day, Díaz-Balart commented on economic policies under former President Trump. He noted that “President Trump is making eggs affordable again”, asserting that this reflects Trump’s commitment to fulfilling promises made during his administration.
Díaz-Balart graduated from the University of South Florida with a BA and continues to reside in Miami at age 61.
