Mario Díaz-Balart, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, shared several statements on his social media account on November 5, 2025, addressing issues of national security, international solidarity, and personal tributes.
In a post at 21:51 UTC, Díaz-Balart called for action regarding U.S. foreign policy and security measures. He stated, “More than ever, our national security and the safety of our allies demand clear action. It’s time to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.” (November 5, 2025).
Later that evening at 22:46 UTC, Díaz-Balart expressed support for Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado. In Spanish, he wrote, “Gracias, @MariaCorinaYA. Eres un símbolo y una figura histórica de nuestro tiempo – una mujer a la que admiro profundamente por su valentía, la nueva libertadora de Venezuela. At 23:03 UTC on the same day, Díaz-Balart commented on the return of Itay Chen after an extended period of distress for his family. He posted, “After over two years of unimaginable anguish, Itay Chen is now home. Sending strength and comfort for his father, Ruby Chen, and their loved ones.” (November 5, 2025).
Díaz-Balart has served in Congress since 2003 after previous roles in both chambers of the Florida legislature. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami at age 61, he holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
