Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, posted a series of statements on October 7, 2025, marking the second anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel and highlighting the ongoing captivity of hostages.

In a post on October 7, 2025, Díaz-Balart stated, “Two years since Hamas’ barbaric October 7 terrorist attack on Israel, 48 innocent hostages still remain in captivity. I commend @POTUS for his bold leadership and tireless efforts to bring them home and stand firmly with Israel in its mission to eradicate the scourge of Hamas.”

Shortly after, he shared a link to his full statement, writing on October 7, 2025: “Full Statement here https://t.co/mPObRh37xI”

Later that day, Díaz-Balart posted as co-chair of the Congressional Latino-Jewish Caucus: “As co-chairs of the Congressional Latino-Jewish Caucus, we remain united in demanding the immediate release of the 48 hostages who remain in captivity today. We are hopeful that ongoing negotiations will result in an agreement that frees the remaining hostages, living and”

Díaz-Balart has a long career in public service, having served in both the Florida House of Representatives and Florida Senate before his tenure in Congress. He was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
