Mario Díaz-Balart, a longstanding U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District, shared a series of tweets on April 9, 2025, addressing a range of issues, including condolences for a tragic event, a meeting with Moroccan officials, and the appointment of a U.S. Ambassador. Díaz-Balart has been serving in Congress since 2003 and has a history in the Florida state legislature. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and now resides in Miami. He is an alumnus of the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s degree.

On April 9, 2025, Mario Díaz-Balart expressed his sympathies concerning a tragic event in the Dominican Republic. He wrote, “Mis condolencias a las familias de los fallecidos y a las víctimas del trágico colapso del techo en la República Dominicana. Nadie espera un accidente de tal magnitud, especialmente en un lugar para disfrutar. Mis pensamientos y oraciones están con mis hermanos y hermanas”.

Later that day, Díaz-Balart tweeted about his ongoing engagement with Moroccan officials. As an active member of the Congressional Morocco Caucus, he noted the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic ties. He mentioned, “As a proud member of the Congressional Morocco Caucus, it was a pleasure to meet with Moroccan Foreign Minister Mr. Nasser Bourita and Ambassador Youssef Amrani to discuss the vital U.S-Morocco relationship. I also reaffirmed my steadfast support for President Trump’s”.

In a subsequent tweet, Díaz-Balart extended his congratulations to Kevin Cabrera on being named the U.S. Ambassador to Panama. He remarked on Cabrera’s dedication and patriotism, stating, “Congratulations to my dear friend @KMCabreraFL on being confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to Panama! Kevin is a true patriot and dedicated public servant committed the cause of freedom in our region, and with a clear understanding of putting America’s interests first.”.
