Mario Díaz-Balart, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, posted a series of messages on February 25, 2026, regarding the release of Israeli hostages and recent developments involving Hamas.

In his first tweet at 03:40 UTC, Díaz-Balart expressed gratitude for former President Donald Trump’s role in securing the release of Israeli hostages. He wrote, “Grateful to President @realDonaldTrump for having secured the release of the 20 living Israeli hostages after two excruciating years marked by depravity, horror, and unimaginable pain in Hamas terrorist captivity. We honor the lives lost and continue to pray for every” (February 25, 2026).

Shortly after, at 03:41 UTC, he posted another message emphasizing a policy approach. The tweet read: “PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH https://t.co/HeUL0fOnp1” (February 25, 2026).

At 03:44 UTC on the same day, Díaz-Balart commented on an individual reportedly captured earlier that year and brought to justice in the United States. He stated: “Captured on January 3, 2026, and now facing justice in the United States. https://t.co/O8OJJTBxs9” (February 25, 2026).

Díaz-Balart has been active in public service for decades; before joining Congress in 2003 he served in both chambers of Florida’s legislature from the late eighties through to the year 2000. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami at age sixty-one, Díaz-Balart is also an alumnus of the University of South Florida.
