Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, expressed support for Jamaica’s recent decision to end a program that facilitated the exchange of Cuban doctors.
Later that day, Díaz-Balart highlighted an event in his district by posting, “President @realDonaldTrump welcomes leaders to the Shield of the Americas Summit in none another than the beautiful @Cityofdoral in Florida’s 26th Congressional District, which I’m proud to represent! https://t.co/4w7LIumMtI” on March 7, 2026.
In another message posted on March 7, 2026, he praised Senator Marco Rubio with the statement: “The brilliant, incomparable @SecRubio! https://t.co/ZLo2EBUjl1”.
Díaz-Balart has been active in politics for decades. He previously served in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature before joining Congress and is known for his long-standing representation of South Florida communities.
He was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
