Mario Díaz-Balart, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, publicly praised former President Donald Trump for his immigration enforcement actions in a series of tweets posted on July 17, 2025.

In one tweet, Díaz-Balart stated, “President Trump pledged to restore law and order and uphold the rule of law, and this deportation is another example of him delivering on that promise. Thugs like this regime operative have no place in the United States. This individual was heavily implicated in the oppression https://t.co/l7Xeb0Orks” (July 17, 2025).

Díaz-Balart echoed these remarks in Spanish later that day: “El presidente Trump se comprometió a hacer cumplir el Estado de derecho, y esta deportación es otro ejemplo de que está cumpliendo con esa promesa. Los esbirros del régimen no tienen cabida en Estados Unidos. Este individuo estuvo fuertemente vinculado en la represión del https://t.co/l7Xeb0Orks” (July 17, 2025).

He also thanked government officials for national security measures against foreign threats: “Thank you, @POTUS and @SecRubio, for protecting our national security by using all available tools to eliminate the threats of violent crime posed by the foreign terrorist organization TdA throughout our hemisphere. https://t.co/wS7npBJymD” (July 17, 2025).

Díaz-Balart has served in Congress since 2003 after previous roles in both chambers of Florida’s legislature. He was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and resides in Miami. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida.
