Mario Díaz-Balart, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, recently shared several statements on social media regarding U.S. policy toward Cuba and the actions of former President Donald Trump. Díaz-Balart, who has an extensive background in Florida state politics and currently resides in Miami, addressed issues related to sanctions against the Cuban government.

On July 11, 2025, Díaz-Balart posted his full statement with the message “Mi declaración completa a continuación:”.

On July 12, 2025, he commented on former President Trump’s stance towards Cuba by stating “Once again, @realDonaldTrump demonstrates real American leadership by standing with the Cuban people and sanctioning the villainous regime operatives, including Díaz-Canel, who continue to brutally terrorize those who only demand freedom. Unlike the previous administration,”.

Shortly after that post on July 12, Díaz-Balart reiterated his position in Spanish: “Una vez más el presidente @realDonaldTrump demuestra un verdadero liderazgo americano al respaldar al pueblo cubano y sancionar a los operativos del régimen, incluyendo a Díaz-Canel, quienes continúan aterrorizando brutalmente a quienes solo exigen libertad. Díaz-Balart has served in Congress since 2003 after terms in both chambers of Florida’s legislature. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, he holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
