Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, posted a series of statements on his Twitter account on February 25, 2026, expressing criticism of the Democratic Party and highlighting his stance on border security and drug enforcement.
In a post made during President Biden’s State of the Union address, Díaz-Balart wrote: “This is not your parents’ Democrat party. During @POTUS’s #SOTU2026 speech, Democrats couldn’t even stand up and clap for: 1. A secure border 2. A drop in fentanyl deaths 3. A dramatic reduction in inflation 4. Lower gas prices 5. All-time highs in the stock market 6. $18T in” (February 25, 2026).
Later that day, he reiterated his criticism with another statement: “This is not your parents’ Democrat party. Dems refuse to stand for protecting Americans.” (February 25, 2026).
Díaz-Balart also shared a photo from his Washington D.C. office showing a “Maduro Captured” poster and stated: “I proudly display the ‘Maduro Captured’ poster in my D.C. office. Drug kingpins and narcoterrorists should know they are on notice and will be held accountable for the deaths of thousands of Americans.” (February 25, 2026).
Díaz-Balart has served as a member of Congress since 2003 after previous terms in both the Florida House of Representatives (1988-1992) and Florida Senate (1992-2000). He was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. He holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
