On April 7, 2025, Díaz-Balart criticized Petro’s actions, stating, “Once again, Petro reveals his sympathy for terrorists and complete disregard for the rule of law. It is outrageous to offer any compassion to members of the vicious Tren de Aragua–a transnational criminal and foreign terrorist organization known for raping, torturing, and…” This statement highlights his condemnation of gestures towards Tren de Aragua, underscoring their acts of violence and the rule of law.

In a notable show of support for athletics, Díaz-Balart expressed encouragement for the University of Florida’s basketball team on April 8, 2025, with a succinct endorsement, “Go Gators! @GatorsMBK”. This tweet signals his engagement with local sports and community pride.

Later the same day, Díaz-Balart shared his congressional duties, specifying his role in an oversight hearing for the National Security and Department of State Subcommittee. On April 8, 2025, he tweeted, “Today, I am chairing an oversight hearing for the National Security and Department of State Subcommittee on assessing the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Mario Díaz-Balart, 61, a Floridian by birth and education, has amassed extensive political experience since 1988, also serving in the Florida House of Representatives and Senate before his long tenure in Congress. Currently residing in Miami, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida.
