Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Díaz-Balart has been an active voice in politics, previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate.

On July 7, 2025, Díaz-Balart expressed his views on Twitter about ongoing issues in Cuba. He stated “Una vez más, la dictadura en Cuba continúa su violencia y abuso contra opositores que mantiene en prisión por exigir libertad para el pueblo cubano.” He highlighted @jdanielferrer as a patriot facing the regime’s oppression.

In another tweet posted shortly after on the same day, he reiterated his statement in English: “Once again, the dictatorship in Cuba continues its violence and abuse against opponents.” He emphasized that @jdanielferrer remains resilient despite adversities from the regime’s forces.

Later that day at approximately 11:08 PM UTC, Díaz-Balart addressed issues concerning Nicaragua under Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo’s leadership. He tweeted “Durante años, el régimen de Daniel Ortega y Rosario Murillo ha privado al pueblo nicaragüense de sus libertades fundamentales.” The congressman acknowledged efforts by former President Trump to hold this regime accountable for its actions.
