Díaz-Balart has been an active figure in U.S. politics for decades. He began his career in the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 and then served in the Florida Senate until 2000. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, Díaz-Balart graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree.
The tweets reference longstanding tensions between the United States government and Nicolás Maduro’s administration in Venezuela.
