Mario Díaz-Balart, a seasoned politician who has represented Florida’s 26th District in the U.S. Congress since 2003, recently shared several updates on social media. His posts covered topics ranging from educational appointments to legislative support and historical remembrance.
On June 2, 2025, Díaz-Balart congratulated Jeanette Núñez on her selection by Florida International University’s Board of Trustees. He expressed confidence in her leadership abilities, stating “Congratulations to my dear friend, @JeanetteNunezFL, on her selection by FIU’s Board of Trustees.” He further noted her distinguished record of public service as a significant factor in her appointment.
The following day, June 3, 2025, Díaz-Balart announced his support for the Connecting Small Businesses with Career and Technical Education Graduates Act of 2025 (H.R. 1642). He highlighted the importance of this bipartisan bill for his district, which hosts numerous career and technical colleges. Díaz-Balart has had a long political career beginning with his service in the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 and continuing through his tenure in the Florida Senate until 2000. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, he holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
