Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, shared his views on recent legislative and international developments in a series of posts on August 15, 2025.

In a post at 14:38 UTC, Díaz-Balart highlighted his support for the One Big Beautiful bill. He stated, “I was proud to vote for the One Big Beautiful bill and this is just one of the many reasons why. The tax cuts in the bill will allow Sergio’s, a FL26 business, to expand and hire more employees. Plus their employees will be able to deduct up to $25k in tips from their taxes.”

Later that day at 15:57 UTC, he commented on Ecuador’s actions against organized crime with a message in Spanish: “Pondero al gobierno de Ecuador por su decidido apoyo a la lucha contra los cárteles del narcotrafico que financian el terrorismo en nuestra región y que han golpeado duramente la vigencia de la democracia y la seguridad de los ecuatorianos. He reiterated his position in English at 15:58 UTC: “I commend the government of Ecuador for its resolute support in the fight against the drug cartels that finance terrorism in our region and have severely undermined the survival of democracy and the security of the Ecuadorian people. Díaz-Balart has served as Florida’s 26th District representative since 2003 after previous roles in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature (source). Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, he holds a BA from the University of South Florida (source).
