Díaz-Balart’s career in public service began in the Florida House of Representatives from 1988 to 1992 before serving in the Florida Senate until 2000. He was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently resides in Miami. Díaz-Balart holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
