On April 30, 2025, Díaz-Balart expressed his thoughts on a meeting with former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Vélez. He tweeted, “Fue un honor reunirme con el expresidente colombiano @AlvaroUribeVel donde hablamos sobre los graves desafíos que hoy enfrenta Colombia, los cuales amenazan la democracia en la región y los intereses de seguridad nacional de Estados Unidos.” The discussion focused on the significant challenges Colombia faces, impacting both regional democracy and U.S. national security.
