Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003 and a longtime Miami resident, recently posted a series of messages on his official social media account addressing international trade, upcoming political events, and the remembrance of a historic tragedy.
On February 23, 2026, Díaz-Balart highlighted the significance of an international trade agreement by stating: “The U.S.-Taiwan Agreement on Reciprocal Trade expands opportunities for American workers, farmers, small businesses, and manufacturers and strengthens supply chain resilience in critical high-tech sectors, all while deepening our relationship with a vital democratic partner”.
Turning to domestic politics the following day, he expressed anticipation for an important national address: “I’m looking forward to President @realDonaldTrump delivering the 2026 State of the Union tomorrow at 9 PM ET. One year of historic results. Strong leadership. America First––and the work continues.”
Later that same day, Díaz-Balart commemorated victims of violence from three decades prior: “Thirty years ago, Raúl Castro carried out a brutal attack that murdered innocent Americans whose only mission was to save lives. We gathered not only to honor their memory, but to reaffirm that crimes against Americans cannot be ignored, excused, or forgotten. There must be”.
Díaz-Balart has served in Congress since 2003 after earlier roles in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and now residing in Miami, he is an alumnus of the University of South Florida.
