On September 3, Díaz-Balart expressed support for Berta Soler, leader of the Ladies in White human rights group. Díaz-Balart has served in Congress since 2003 after prior terms in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, he holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
