Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, posted a series of updates on April 16, 2026, highlighting local achievements and national policy positions.
In his first post at 16:48 UTC, Díaz-Balart congratulated Florida International University (FIU) on the groundbreaking of CasaCuba. He wrote, “Congratulations to @FIU on the CasaCuba groundbreaking! FIU’s CasaCuba aims to preserve and share the rich history, culture, and contributions of Cuban Americans–sharing their stories of resilience, sacrifice, and triumph. Hopefully, it will inspire future generations to learn https://t.co/YSq05HO5qo”.
Later that day at 18:13 UTC, Díaz-Balart expressed support for legislative efforts aimed at streamlining government processes. He stated, “Proud to have voted for @RepJohnJoyce’s Red Tape Act, which will speed up permitting by eliminating mandatory, repetitive government reviews. This means roads, bridges, energy, and broadband get built months or years faster at lower taxpayer costs, with less inflation from https://t.co/J9TCBTk8Fo”.
At 20:31 UTC on the same day, Díaz-Balart commented on border security measures under President Trump’s administration. He said,“Since returning to office, President Trump proved that to end the border crisis, all that needed to be done was to enforce the rule of law. As a result of his leadership, we’ve had 11 straight months of zero releases at the border. I’ve long supported strong border security”.
Díaz-Balart has been active in public service for decades; before joining Congress in 2003 he served in both chambers of Florida’s legislature from 1988 through 2000. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami at age 61,
he holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida.
