Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, posted a series of updates on February 23, 2026, highlighting his recent activities in community rebuilding, law enforcement support, and advocacy for political prisoners.
In a post at 12:30 p.m., Díaz-Balart referenced ongoing recovery efforts following natural disasters in Southwest Florida. He wrote, “Since Hurricanes Irma and Ian devastated Southwest Florida, I have worked relentlessly to help our communities rebuild stronger and more resilient. I was proud to join residents at the Everglades Seafood Festival to announce this critical funding to build a new community”.
Later that day at 1:00 p.m., Díaz-Balart shared news about recognition from local law enforcement. He stated, “I’m honored to be named an honorary Hialeah Gardens police officer and to have Feb. 19 declared Mario Díaz-Balart Day. As a staunch supporter of our law enforcement, I’m proud to have delivered $2 million in federal funding for 30 new patrol vehicles to support our officers and”.
At 1:05 p.m., he addressed international issues regarding Venezuela’s political situation. In Spanish, he posted: “¡Exigimos la libertad plena para Williams Dávila, y la libertad de todos los presos y perseguidos politicos! Estados Unidos se mantiene firme junto al pueblo venezolano en su lucha por una Venezuela libre y próspera. El régimen debe saber que Estados Unidos observa de cerca.”
Díaz-Balart has represented Florida’s 26th District in Congress since 2003 after serving in both chambers of the Florida legislature between 1988 and 2000. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, he holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida.
