Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national security funding and U.S. policy toward Venezuela.

On July 23, 2025, Díaz-Balart outlined the priorities of the FY 2026 NSRP funding bill in a tweet: “The FY 2026 NSRP funding bill:

Reinforces Peace through Strength by restoring American leadership
Stands in strong solidarity with our allies
Confronts the malign forces that threaten U.S. national security and endanger Americans

The following day, he addressed the Maduro regime in Venezuela with two posts—one in Spanish and one in English. On July 24, he wrote: “No importa lo que diga el régimen de Maduro, no recibirán ningún beneficio.

No hay aliado más firme de la causa de la libertad del pueblo venezolano que el presidente Trump.

Su historial es CLARAMENTE INEQUÍVOCO en su firme oposición a los dictadores antiestadounidenses en el”. Later that day, he reiterated his stance in English: “No matter what the Maduro regime says, they will receive no benefits.

Díaz-Balart has represented Florida’s 26th District since 2003 after serving terms in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, he holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
