Mario Díaz-Balart, who has represented Florida’s 26th District in the U.S. Congress since 2003 and previously served in both chambers of the Florida Legislature, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing tax policy and human rights issues. Díaz-Balart, born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami, is known for his advocacy on behalf of his constituents and his support for policies affecting South Florida.
On July 10, 2025, Díaz-Balart commented on legislation impacting ride-share drivers, stating “This is HUGE for Uber drivers in Miami. The One Big Beautiful Bill ensures that taxpayers can keep more of their hard-earned money.”
Later that day, he elaborated on the effects of the same bill for residents of his district: “The One Big Beautiful Bill directly benefits taxpayers in FL-26 by making @POTUS’ successful Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) permanent. Without the TCJA, the average taxpayer in FL-26 would have seen a 24% tax hike by the end of 2025.”
Díaz-Balart holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
