Mario Díaz-Balart, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 26th District since 2003, posted a series of messages on April 14, 2026, addressing the anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, expressing concern over the political situation in Colombia, and commemorating Yom HaShoah.

Later that day at 16:47 UTC, he commented on developments in Colombia under President Gustavo Petro: “Me preocupa mucho la peligrosa situación en Colombia bajo la administración de Petro, lo cual está poniendo en riesgo la estrecha relación entre EE.UU. y Colombia.

At 19:19 UTC on the same day, Díaz-Balart observed Yom HaShoah with a message about Holocaust remembrance and rising antisemitism: “On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and honor the survivors who endured unimaginable horrors.

Díaz-Balart has been active in public service for decades; before joining Congress in 2003 as representative for Florida’s 26th District he served in both chambers of Florida’s legislature. Born in Fort Lauderdale in 1961 and currently residing in Miami at age 61, he holds a BA from the University of South Florida.
